The Town of Plainfield is pleased to announce that Brent Anderson has been appointed as the Town’s new Fire Chief. This comes just two months after former Plainfield Fire Territory Chief, Joel Thacker, was appointed the Indiana State Fire Marshal by Governor Holcomb. As incoming Chief, Anderson is responsible for the overall administration and management of the Fire Territory.
“Assistant Chief Anderson was thrust into the interim Chief position during a global pandemic and arguably one of the most unprecedented times we have faced,” said Town Manager, Andrew Klinger. “Anderson’s performance these last few months made him the obvious choice as the next Fire Chief.”
Brent Anderson has been the Assistant Chief for the Plainfield Fire Territory since 2012. As lifelong resident of Hendricks County, he has been involved with the Hendricks County fire service since 1997. He has volunteered with the Fire Department of Liberty Township, worked part-time with the Danville Fire Department and has been a career firefighter with the Plainfield Fire Territory since 2002. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 2008 and before being appointed to Assistant Chief.
Personally, Anderson lives in Danville with his wife (Kim) and children Carter (12) and Molly (10). He is a recent graduate of the 2019-2 Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Leadership Academy and a 2013 graduate of Leadership Hendricks County. When not involved in the fire service, he enjoys vacationing with his family, anything sports related and attending his children’s many events.
“I am excited about the opportunity to represent the 77 great men and women of the fire territory as Fire Chief,” said Anderson. “I look forward to leading this group through the current challenges and the future. I am grateful to the Town Manager and the Plainfield Town Council for their confidence in me to lead the organization.”
Chief Brent Anderson will begin immediately to optimize the organization for a post-pandemic world and to ensure the future needs and growth of the Town of Plainfield are met.
