HCHD ADDRESSES CONCERNS ON THE REOPENING OF SCHOOLS

Posted by Provided on Jul 28, 2020 2:20:26 PM

We understand concerns about the reopening of schools. These are challenging times and the uncertainty of the pandemic may feel scary. It is a priority to help schools prevent the spread of COVID-19 while still providing a quality education.

gggOur health department is working with area schools to ensure the safety of students and faculty. We are in constant communication with every school district in our county, sharing guidance developed by the Indiana State Department of Health and Indiana Department of Education. We have assessed local data from multiple reliable sources daily to evaluate the decision to reopen schools and will continue to do so.

While the health department provides guidance to schools, each school has prepared for the upcoming year by creating their own protocols and preventative measures with the help of state entities. These protocols may evolve as they are implemented and as more information is obtained about COVID-19. Schools know their needs and unique circumstances best, and thus may make the decision to adjust plans in conjunction with guidance from local and state entities.

This pandemic is an evolving situation and we will continue to monitor data, remain flexible, and make adjustments as needed. If you have questions or concerns regarding the upcoming school year, please contact us at 317-718-6018.
